БГ ПАРТИЯ... I mean... BG PARTY!

Bulgarian Dreams is a blog about the dreams, aspirations and ideology of a most inspiring nation: Bulgaria. Bulgaria and its denizens, that is, as they roam the globe and bring with them ingenuity, ability and ideas to countries in desperate need of them! An adopted cause of mine, for reasons that the heart only can explain, Bulgaria is a country that inspires me personally in many ways - and once you learn about it, you will quickly see why and adopt it as well! So what if they speak a language only Russians can grasp? And so what if they use an alphabet as alien to latin-based languages as it is phonetic in fact! So what if the country has had so many problems discarding the communists that have clung on to power in its core recesses, one way or another, for the better part of the last 50 years; and that such a cancer of the administrative spine of this proud nation has rendered its denizens less prone to protest things that would provoke outright anarchy and total utter chaos in less-civilized countries? Bulgaria remains and always will be, first and foremost, an IDEAL LANDSCAPE, from its majestic mountains to its share of the magnificent Black Sea - just as it was back when Alexander The Great himself fancied it! And the Turks. And the Russians. And pretty much everyone else in its immediate vicinity, in a 1000 km radius! They do not say "welcome to paradise" in all of those travel agency-sponsored commercials about Bulgaria for nothing, you know...!

Bulgaria is my muse, by proxy - and I know what I mean when I say that much!
For creativity, ingenuity, art, food and drink - and I do not just mean rakia by that, either!

As it is, the tastiest dessert I have ever had comes from there too -although its origins may be from another part of the world- and I cannot think of any better way to complement a party than to have it with a nice, hot cup of fine tea!
:)

The recipe is right here, in Bulgarian too:

Крем брюле
Класически, лесен, вкусен и ужасно калоричен десерт.
Crème Brûlée

===============================================

Many thanks to biskvitka (who bears a hell of a lot of an uncanny resemblance to Sesame Street's Cookie Monster) for the recipe - you are one monstruous heck of a cook, I tell ya, and this I tell with the utmost regard of course!

This last bit of witty commentary shall prove the merit of the chef as well as my admiration of said wit:
На първия изпит го правих с мляко с 1,5% масленост и се наложи да реанимирам крема с нишесте и да добавям сметана
:)

The preceding may have been the first and last bit of Bulgarian that you may see here, though; for I am still in the learning stages of this beautiful language and cannot promise to pen anything using the complex cyrillic alphabet without a trusty assistant that will be sitting by my side, translating each and every word as I type them...!

*Bulgarian Dreams* shall have Bulgarian in it still - in one form or another, this I promise to you all!

Da! :)

Now, if you want REAL Bulgarian, complete with complex rhetoric and stimulating as well as thought-provoking analysis deftly worded and crafted by an expert on the subject, you will have to look for it elsewhere - namely here, on the single most luminous of all blogs ever to be written using the cyrillic alphabet! Through thoughtful comparisons made between Canadian and Bulgarian societies (and, sometimes, Portuguese, Italian, Greek and even Québécois(es) societies!) the blog's author shall open your eyes to a deeper reality and enlighten your perception of the overall picture in the same process. It may seem as a daunting task for even the most astute of all sociologists: but this blog's author simply knows best for she has been in both societies and seen it all. So you better believe her and all that she says - for she is as radiant and as luminous and as right on the money as the moon does reflect the sun's Light indeed! Heard or, rather, read that before somewhere, have you? (Maybe around these parts, hmm?)
:)

Dobrei!

Come back here after all that, for something a trifle more light-hearted... sometimes!
We reserve the right to be as satirical, sardonic and sarcastic as they come too; after all, one of the aspects I personally adore the most of Bulgarian culture, is their great sense of humor!

I love their music and folklore as well - it appeals so deeply to something deep in the very core fibre of my being... which is European too, after all, so there!

Just WATCH, LISTEN and READ ON...

And... Dober Den!
Dober Vercher!

In closing, let's set one thing straight right here and right now,
 by stating, clearly and concisely
that this blog is not affiliated in any way with
that other Bulgarian Dreams site there...
OKAY?
Dobrei!

Bulgarians Dream Of... Killing Cupid

Boris ''The Baptizer'' means business -
a greater shot than Robin Hood ever was!
Marvel's Punisher, centuries before its time!
And obviously imitated by DC's Deathstroke The Terminator too
- but never duplicated!

***God's Wisdom***
as translated from
Ancient Greek!

City of many a splendor,
ancient glory
&
renewed radiance!

Some even call it

Heaven on Earth!

Architecture worthy of royalty.
Street pavements that reek of gold!
A beautiful tradition of Orthodoxy
and faith that survived through it all!
Vitosha - the mountain that thrones upon it
vanquishing all attempts of pollution!
An air of grandeur
despite the scars of communism
still evident, here and there...
A purity that could not be erased
even after socialism and evil
tried their best...

GOD Gave us His Wisdom -
God Gave us... Sofia!

Truly, SOFIA is a gem -
and none can be surer
of that certainty
than ME...!

For...

Luminous (\ô/) Luciano ™

was there!

And Now: A Message From Дядо Добри...

'' Grandfather Goodness '' if you will ...

Such a fine message that, in its infinite goodness, too,
Blogger / Гоогле ... sorry, Google ... just had to
automatically translate for us
-when we did not even ask Google Goodness to ...-

Santa Good: Watch your souls: the devil lives in people
"Let People not to Lie on The Earth as it is Temporary, let them to hold on to God and not to deviate to The Devil! "There Are People do not know WHO is Better, they do not know God or to Light candles. The devil also makes people not to believe in God, makes them not go to His Home. The Evil That We Will Be Judged for When We Go up to God, and He wants us to repent, to admit our SINS and, because He IS Good and Merciful, He Will Forgive us and, with us, He IS delighted for our Repentance "
"... Keep your souls for the devil lives in people, talking through their fat lips, to be able to attract souls. Beware! There is no faith anymore - so many are lost"

OSTAVKATA !!!

Another dream come true...!

The corrupt government that we have beseeched
ceaselessly -for many, many months now-
to step down and resign
has finally abdicated power!

Let us rejoice!
For now...

(because we never know who or what
the people may be foolish enough to vote for,
next time - this coming November!)

Here's to the future...!

(Gulping down a shot of rakia -
choking and coughing optional!)

Ironically enough, however, the word ''победа'' delineates everything, if not at once, according to the specifics of each situation: it can therefore signify victory but also defeat; battle; even a ''coup''...

Only in Bulgaria...!

So... is this the end for Ostavka-Man
Nay - we think not!
For there is much more Resignation here,
looming on the horizon!
Resignation that things are doomed to repeat:
mistakes to be made, over and over again;
the need for an ostavka periodic, then...!

For, in the final estimation,
there is much to say
about the things that we have got in common,
Bulgarians and I...
They should surely have an expression,
already in ancient use,
that goes along the same way
my good old motto goes:
''Hope For The Best
Expect The Worst
That Way, Nothing Will Surprise Thee!''

One more time...
OSTAVKA... TA!
;-)

Barbarians Have Bulgarian Dreams Too!

Barbarians with good taste (like a certain Canadian Barbarian... er, moi for instance! Or lower-lifeform barbarians such as Jasons - like that Momoa guy, keen on mimicking the Ah-Nolds of this world...!)

Here is the evidence: when Conan The Barbarian himself cannot contain his troglodytic enthusiasm and neanderthalish bewilderment regarding Bulgarian women baring it all...

Other known barbarians recognized as fine connaisseurs (not ''connoisseurs'' you silly Americans!) of Bulgarian cleavage include all 57 Expendables, Val Kilmer, Vin Diesel and several Greek creeps nobody knows really... But that's another story...

Viva Bulgaria... in the buff!  *lol*

Say Zdravei To The Foundation...!

Ostavka Man was there...
and The Foundation simply never knew...!
Dobrei...!

What a fine concert it was, still;
full of raw emotion, nostalgia aplenty
and great rock!

Five -count'em, five!- Bulgarian artists
of immense talent:

Kiril Marichkov (“Shturtsite” - The Crickets!)
Ivan Lechev (of “FSB” renown)
Doni (one half of “Doni & Momchil”)
Slavcho Nikolov (of “BTR” renown)
and drummer Venko Poromanski (“Te”)

Five representatives of different groups
united to bring Bulgarian music to Bulgarians abroad!
Beautiful!
They went on a sort of mini-tour across North America
performing in Seattle and Toronto
before landing in Montreal -
basically, everywhere that there are, now,
flourishing Bulgarian communities!

The songs they performed were familiar to me, too;
all the hit songs that inspired
generations of Europeans
to reach out for their dreams
and deepest aspirations.
And not just each other's various hits
but other bands hits, too
(such as the quite emblematic now Kukla...!)

However, for the partly-Canadian Barbarian observer,
appreciative of the sounds, beats, emotions
but only -possibly- of a fraction of the lyrics
(hey - it's all Greek to me, okay?)
it was like seeing the most compelling assemblage
of diverse musicians ever assembled on one stage:
imagine attending a show featuring
Geddy Lee (it was good Doni looks and sounds like him;
and not like Donny of Donny & Marie!)
André Rieu (Ivan Lechev can give André a run for his violin...)
David Crosby (Kiril projects the same aura -
he doesn't just sport the same hairstyle!)
Robbie Robertson (Slavcho is another Robbie, methinks...)
and Nir Z (of Genesis renown) on drums...
That's what The Foundation looked like to me!
And that is, admittedly, a great foundation
to keep on building upon,
indeed!

Bravo!

Viva Bulgaria!

Thanks, Joro!

Dobrei! Back To The Dream Part - Dobrei!

In all honesty, I suppose that it would not be exaggeration to say that I've neglected the ''dreamy'' part of this chunk of the blogosphere - to strictly focus upon the less pleasant aspects of Bulgaria, lately.  It is nearly impossible not to do so, with all the political turmoil going on in that country - the farce and mockery of justice that all the usual players have made of it, playing their own people like fools...   Let it not be said that I cannot still see the beauty of Bulgaria - and the paradisical aspects that it undeniably possesses, when we can somehow avoid peeking at certain of these individuals in the backdrop...

And so here we go - BACK TO BULGARIA!
Back to its very best advantages and assets - unequaled virtually everywhere else in Europe and certainly in the United States and its dumb cousin - Canada, eh?

For, in Bulgaria, drugs are dirt cheap -

and antibiotics can be obtained

over the counter,

without any prescription whatsoever!

*You* prescribed it to yourself -

you go out there and get it!

It's as simple as that!

All that - and RAKIA too!

Oh yes, without a shadow of a doubt,

Bulgaria *is* a paradise...!!!

Viva Bulgaria!

July Morning

July morning in Bulgaria has become a festival embued with a very special atmosphere with this awesome rock anthem from Uriah Heep, a band born in London but forever linked to Bulgaria - as many of us born elsewhere are, too!

Meeting on the Black Sea coast for a senses-shattering July morning is the epitomy of national pride for all Bulgarians - born or naturalized! ;-)

How I wish I was there, in beautiful Bulgaria, this July Morning...! <3
