Embracing A Culture...!
Why, some of you may ask, why Bulgaria? The question is especially pertinent when one considers that the embracer is not a native, does not know the language all that much and is being told not to move there at any point in time - for the economy is hanging by a thread there as well, as it is in many other places mind you...
Well, there are plenty -I tell you: PLENTY- of good reasons to embrace this country, heritage and culture, and to list them all here and now will be my pleasure - and honor.

IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT ONE CANNOT SPEAK THE LANGUAGE - ONE CAN UNDERSTAND THE EMOTION
IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT ONE DOES NOT KNOW THE CULTURE - ONE CAN INTUITIVELY ATTUNE TO IT
IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT ONE HAS NOT AN IOTA OF SLAVIC GENES IN HIM - ONE CAN HAVE A SLAVIC HEART (and it has been confirmed to me by a third party as well! À Bon Entendeur, Salut!)
IT DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN BORN ON THAT LAND - WE HAVE ALL BEEN BORN ON THE SAME MOTHER EARTH
IT DOESN'T CHANGE A THING IF YOU CANNOT CONVERSE WITH THEM BEYOND THE FEW BASIC POLITE WORDS "ZDRAVEJ", "ZDRASTI", "DA", "CHESTITO", "MERCI" AND... OH YES, "BODA"
;-)
All that matters is that one recognizes THE BRETHREN in the Bulgarian: for we believe in the same way, with the same faith, in the same GOD.
And recognize one another we certainly do - aye, we do!
All that matters is that the same love of nature, of God's Creation and of Him, our Lord of lords, resides in each and every one of our beating hearts.
All that matters is the stranger and the local are both genuinely good, sincere in wanting nothing but the best for their fellow human being, genuine in their goodness and kindness to others.
The similarities between these traditions and cultural background and mine are striking and a constant source of renewed bonding and kinship.
And, most of all, this heritage, this culture, is that of the woman that I love.
Thus, I will champion it, fight for it, sing its praises and clamor for its betterment as loudly as I can - because it is a part of her.
And it is now a part of me too.
